Barbershop Quartet Featured in Free Summer Concert Series

York, SC – July 3, 2008 -- The Lauren Pines Homeowners Association is pleased to announce the performance of Nightcap, a dynamic barbershop quartet this Friday evening, July 11 at  Lauren Pines’ second “Music in the Pines” concert event at 7:00 p.m. Music will begin at 6:15 p.m. with TopherMan performing.

Nightcap is a four-member a capella group that sings a wide variety of musical styles. Lead singer Derek Street is a local resident of Lake Wylie and brings enthusiasm to the group.

HOA president Edward Johnson commented on the group’s appearance at the Music in the Pines concert series: “We are thrilled to have Nightcap come and sing at our concert series. A capella music offers so much richer of a musical vocal experience than most types of music. You can’t hide a mediocre voice with a lot of instruments when singing a capella. With four fantastic voices, Nightcap promises to wow the crowd at our concert.”

Friday night’s opening act at 6:15 p.m. will feature local contemporary Christian recording artists, TopherMan.  Their high energy performances appeal to all ages. CDs and T-shirts will be available for purchase the night of the concert.

Inexpensive picnic dinner plates will be available for purchase for only $1.50. Guests are welcome to bring their own picnic meals if they wish. Free frisbees will be given away as well to the first 50 guests.

The “Music in the Pines” free summer concert series is sponsored by the Lauren Pines Homeowners Association and runs through the summer on every other Friday evening. Each concert is open to the public. All shows are family friendly and will end by 8:30 p.m.

Free giveaway items and door prizes at each concert are provided by event sponsors including York Bi-Lo, York YMCA, Palmetto Bar and Grill and Stacy’s Garden Center.
