Local Trio to Sing at Lauren Pines

York, SC – July 30, 2008 -- The Lauren Pines Homeowners Association continues its summer concert series with contemporary Christian trio Called By Name next Friday evening, August 8, at Lauren Pines’ fourth “Music in the Pines” concert event at 7:00 p.m.

Called By Name has performed throughout York County, including frequent performances at their home church First Baptist Church of Clover. They bring high energy and blended harmonies to every concert. According to one fan of theirs, Marilyn Bowlin, “I think Called By Name is one of the best vocal groups in all of York County. They lift my spirits every time I hear them sing.”

Friday night’s opening act beginning at 6:15 p.m. will feature Colin Ruffer performing an entertaining assortment of musical styles. Colin is a 2008 graduate of Clover High School where he was part of the 4A South Carolina State Champion Clover Choraliers. He will be attending Winthrop University in the fall, majoring in music.

In discussing the Music in the Pines series, local resident Mary Spearman commented, “I think it’s great that the folks at Lauren Pines care enough about the community to offer free music in the summer. I attended the last concert and was surprised at how many people came out to enjoy the music. And all the free giveaways from concert sponsors like Bi-Lo, Stacy’s Garden Center and Palmetto Bar and Grill are really neat too.”

According to HOA president Edward Johnson, the most recent concert had over 100 in attendance. Stated Johnson, “We’re glad to see area residents dropping by to enjoy some entertaining music on a Friday evening. Community is an important aspect at Lauren Pines and one we want to promote on an ongoing basis. Sponsoring free concerts is just one way for us to bring residents together during the summer.”

Two dollar picnic dinner plates will be available the night of the concert. Guests are welcome to bring their own picnic meals if they wish. Free frisbees will be given away as well to the first 50 guests.

The “Music in the Pines” free summer concert series is sponsored by the Lauren Pines Homeowners Association and runs through the summer on every other Friday evening. Each concert is open to the public. All shows are family friendly and end by 8:30 p.m.

Free giveaway items and door prizes at each concert are provided by event sponsors including York Bi-Lo, Lending Edge Mortgage, Palmetto Bar and Grill and Stacy’s Garden Center.
